Emblem Divide Review – Damien

It is two-thirty AM.

I just closed the cover of a book called Emblem Divide after reading its last sentence. The huge smile on my face will take two full days to fade, but I don’t know that yet.

The last time I finished reading a story this late and went through this much of a book in one go was a few years back. I was sitting on a plane reading a fast paced novel, by a well known author, depicting a tale of secret societies, Italian paintings and royal bloodlines.

Emblem Divide was better than this. Emblem Divide felt more real, more subtle and much more powerful.

The plot-twisting story line of this book will undoubtedly take your breath away a good few times and provides the perfect setting for the many vivid characters that you will grow to love and care for.

This book feels like a great movie wired directly into your imagination. Think “Back to the Future” meets “The Princess Bride” and “Pulp Fiction”. Yeah, I know!

I just closed the cover of a book called Emblem Divide. A great story with a fantastic style and finished with, for once in a novel – the perfect ending.

Emblem Divide Review – David

It is my opinion that Emblem Divide (or ED to make it easier to refer to) is piece of literacy brilliance. Last year Pete sent me a copy of chapter 1 of his book which I read and greatly enjoyed. When I heard that the book was finished I thought I would have to wait until it was available before I could read it. When Pete offered me the chance to read the finished product in its review state, I jumped at the chance.

Reading Emblem Divide I forgot my surrounding completely, only to be reminded later that so much time had passed; that my TV had turned itself off. It is a book full of plot twists and surprises that had me second guessing my theories on what would happen next. Reading it, I fell into the world completely, it provoked an array of emotions from fear to awe as the tail unfolded, the characters developed and evolved before my eyes.

I felt I was watching a film instead of reading a book, as each moment is described in clear detail. The characters of ED are not reflections of people that Pete knows, they have some traits but can be defined as separate individuals. As I read ED I enjoyed learning about each character in turn, they constantly surprise the reader by the way they react to each other and the surroundings and Pete gives them some stunning locations to chose from.

Overall I enjoyed the book from cover to cover, it is a great tale and leaves you wanting more.

Emblem Divide Review – Lisa

If you are looking to get completely lost in an alternate reality of time travel, love and warfare then this is the book for you. The writer has come up with an astoundingly original take on the concept of time travel whilst always staying two steps ahead of the readers train of thought. Peter does an excellent job of submerging you in a world where the stakes are high and nothing is as it seems. This book will captivate your mind and make your heart pound, keeping you on the edge of your seat until the very last sentence.

The review panel

Well, you have probably seen posts on Facebook recently about the Confidentiality Agreements that were being signed up. I have, at the moment, 4 people who have just received a copy of the book in a pre-final edit state.

It’s pretty exciting, but also pretty worrying too. It’s a kind of sink or swim moment. I trust each person who I have asked to be on the panel. They have all been friends of mine for considerable amounts of time. I have worked with each of them in the past and really value their honesty and opinions.

Of course I’m hoping that they come back and say what a wonderfully written book it is, but I’m not holding my breath. Writing is subjective in many cases. My style may not be liked, the character progression, themes, dialogue may all be subject to negative comments. On the other hand, they could all be subject to positive comments. I’ll just have to wait and see. The one thing I do know is that the review panel are diverse enough to give me a good overall feeling of how the book fairs.

Where I take it from there is really still up for decision. I will listen to everything the review panel has to say and make a final decision shortly after each of them has finished reading. I wish them each good luck and remember guys, if you get bored after the first five chapters I don’t expect you to finish it :)
