Emblem Divide Review – David

It is my opinion that Emblem Divide (or ED to make it easier to refer to) is piece of literacy brilliance. Last year Pete sent me a copy of chapter 1 of his book which I read and greatly enjoyed. When I heard that the book was finished I thought I would have to wait until it was available before I could read it. When Pete offered me the chance to read the finished product in its review state, I jumped at the chance.

Reading Emblem Divide I forgot my surrounding completely, only to be reminded later that so much time had passed; that my TV had turned itself off. It is a book full of plot twists and surprises that had me second guessing my theories on what would happen next. Reading it, I fell into the world completely, it provoked an array of emotions from fear to awe as the tail unfolded, the characters developed and evolved before my eyes.

I felt I was watching a film instead of reading a book, as each moment is described in clear detail. The characters of ED are not reflections of people that Pete knows, they have some traits but can be defined as separate individuals. As I read ED I enjoyed learning about each character in turn, they constantly surprise the reader by the way they react to each other and the surroundings and Pete gives them some stunning locations to chose from.

Overall I enjoyed the book from cover to cover, it is a great tale and leaves you wanting more.
